Wayne's kayak tour of Loxahatchee NWR

This is a 5.5 mile canoe/kayak loop. In some places the "trail" is narrow enough that grasses which hang over were close enough on both sides to touch them with my 230 cm paddle.

Me dumping water out of kayak as it had rained quite a bit recently and the kayak was right side up on top of my car. Just pushed off from the put-in. Close to the entry "gate" to the 5.5 mile loop.

Just inside the entry gate. Typical view on the trail. Another typical view to the side.

7' Alligator VERY CLOSE to me! Same VERY CLOSE Alligator. The dead trees on the left are washed out in this shot.

A beautiful Hawk sitting in a washed out dead tree. Another typical view. Coming out of the loop.

I only met the one Alligator but saw many "swirls" in the waters around me as I paddled through the loop.
