Movable Type

Well, I did it. I successfully installed Movable Type and have been playing around with it. I may switch to it at some point as it will allow me more flexibility and more independence. iBlog has been behaving recently and I do still like it, but MT is probably where I will eventually end up.

Here is a link to the Movable Type blog I am testing with.

Advantages to Movable Type are that comments are built in so I don't have to depend on a service to host the comments and I can add cool things like Emoticons, aka smilies, to the blog and the comments and use custom smiley graphics.

So, this ;-) becomes this .

She's Home!

Robyn and her parents are home from Florida! They had a great time and now Robyn and I can resume our regular phone conversations. I'm glad she's home.

She wants the printer closer

A woman at work requested a printer and when she was told she couldn't have one, she wanted the one closest to her moved closer. Today she requested again that the printer be moved closer, but now she says it's because she has diabetes and gets hot flashes when she has to walk the 20 feet to the printer. We will probably end up moving the printer closer. I just thought it was interesting that she used her diabetes as an excuse. She obviously has no idea that I have diabetes too.

iBlog Woes

Sarat, at Lifli, has been working to fix iBlog, but even with the version he provided me a link to, it still lost the previous post and I had to recreate it. I may try Movable Type at this point. I'm not sure. I've invested so much time into iBlog, I hate to stop using it, but this is too frustrating.

The Final Day

It was less than a week ago that I was still with my sweetie. Laurie, Dad, Mom, and I awoke early on Monday, May 30th. We packed the car and drove to Robyn's house where I said my goodbyes to them and went up to Robyn's door. I knocked and, of course, Jack barked. Robyn opened the door and let me in, both of her parents were up too. I still can't get over how great her whole family is. :-) Ron was going golfing and Robyn and I decided to go to McDonald's for breakfast and then she would stop at her friend Maurine's house on the way back to take care of Mikki, her cat. Maurine went to Ireland on vacation so Robyn agreed to help out. Maurine came back today, so the cat was only alone yesterday. We returned to Robyn's house and sat, enjoying each other's company and trying to ignore the inevitable. We had a wonderful, but tearful day. Ron came home from golfing and made some hamburgers. Once again, wonderful food! We cleaned up after dinner and spent a little more time together until it was time to go. Ron, Joyce, and Robyn all went to the airport to drop me off. That was a tough trip. I held it together until I had gotten out of the car and saw that Robyn was crying I hugged her and began sobbing myself. Joyce was very sweet and told us we would be fine and we would see each other again soon. Man, that was tough. I walked into the airport and made my way to security, again, no line, I breezed right through and they had begun boarding the plane early. Of course, I ended up sitting next to a happy, affectionate couple. It was a little tough, but it was also nice to know that I had someone too, we were just going to be apart for a little while.

I thought there was no way we could have topped our meeting in December, but this just keeps getting better and better. Robyn is just terrific and I love her so much and it is so great to know that she loves me too, every bit as much. I can't wait to see her again. While we are apart, we are truly incomplete.

Sunday with my cutie :-)

Sunday I took, Mom, Dad, and Laurie to Wonderland so they could take the T into Boston to do the Freedom Trail. I drove to pick Robyn up and we spent some time at her folks house and then went to get some lunch and then a movie. We went to Uno Chicago Grill. Very good food! But better company. :-)

We drove to the theater and we were just on time. It's a very nice theater. We went to see Madagascar and it was a lot of fun! It was so great being together. After the movie we went to pick up my family and we all went to dinner at a nice, little Italian place called Maggio's. I don't think anyone serves bad food in the Boston area. Afterwards we went to Baskin Robbins for some ice cream.

We dropped my family off at the hotel and then we went back to her parent's place, both very aware that tomorrow was going to be our last day together. Mom, Dad, and Laurie were going to leave very early and drop me off at Robyn's house.

Oh yeah, Robyn and I had one more treat for dessert. ;-)

I can't quit iBlog

I find that if I quit iBlog, the actual application, that is when posts disappear, so I am keeping it open. Lifli is supposed to release a new version soon, it was actually supposed to be a few days ago. I hope it fixes this problem. I'm getting tired of recreating posts.

Saturday, May 28th 2005

Robyn worked early on Saturday so I took Dad, Laurie, and Mom to the beach! The weather was beautiful, mid 70's and blue sky. I stayed at the beach for a little while and then went to do some grocery shopping. On the way back to pick up my sweetie from work, I stopped to buy a single red rose. I picked her up and we drove to her parent's house. We spent some time with her folks and then drove to Applebee's for dinner. I had the Shrimp and Parmesan Sirloin and Robyn had the Chicken Finger Platter. After I called Tony, our waiter, Nick, and then apologized, we drove to pick up Laurie, Dad, and Mom and headed off to Robyn's parent's house for them all to meet and for some incredible dessert. There are two terrific Italian bakeries in town and Ron, Robyn's dad, knows them well. He had bought some amazing treats for us to sample. We all had a great time together. I love that Robyn and I both have such great families. Robyn and I drove my family back to the hotel and then we returned to her parent's house. We were both glad that we still had two more days together.

I'll write about Sunday tomorrow. I miss her. I can't wait till she comes to see me. We are going to plan her trip when she comes back from Florida. It will probably be in August.

Robyn leaves for Florida today.

Robyn and her parents leave for Florida today, for nine days. This will be much better than last year , when we had no contact while she was gone. This year I will call her in the evenings at the hotel.

Bon Voyage Sweetie! Have a great trip!

A pretty good birthday! :-)

Friday morning, Mom, Dad, Laurie and I ate breakfast and then I drove them to Wonderland Station where they caught the T into Boston to do a Trolly ride around town. I went to meet Robyn and we went to a nice little Italian restaurant called D'Parma's. I had the Chicken Marsala and Robyn had the Cheese Ravioli's. We had a very nice time and it was so awesome being together, I'm getting a little choked up right now just thinking about it. I miss her so much! After eating, we drove back to her parent's house and spent some time together, then Robyn got ready for work and I drove her there.

While she was at work, I drove to the movie theater and back to make sure I could find my way. Then I picked her up from work. We went to pick up Laurie, Mom, and Dad and we all went to Jimmy's Steer-house for dinner. Robyn and I had the prime rib and Mom, Laurie, and Dad had the Filet Mignon. The steak there is amazing and it was so nice to have my family and my sweetie together.

It was pretty late when we left Jimmy's. We drove back to the hotel and dropped Dad, Laurie, and Mom off and headed for Robyn's parent's house again. We had a very nice evening, just relaxing and being together. It was a wonderful time and just can't wait to see her again!

Tomorrow, I will write about Saturday!

I can't even put into words how wonderful this past weekend was.

I can't even put into words how wonderful this past weekend was, but I will try.

Thursday, I drove from work to Uncle Bob's house, where he was waiting to take me to the airport. We drove and talked about the trip, he gave me a nice birthday card with some money "For Boston Gas or perhaps, red socks." We arrived at the airport with plenty of time and there was no wait for security. Once I got through, I found that my flight had been delayed by about 40 minutes so I called Mom, Dad, and Laurie and let them know, they were still driving so now they didn't have to rush if they ran out of time. I had already been talking to Robyn too, although she had to leave for work. The flight, once it got off the ground, was it's usual hour and forty minutes. I called Robyn as soon as the plane landed. I exited the plane and made my way to where Mom, Dad, and Laurie were waiting to pick me up. It was so nice to see friendly, familiar faces waiting for me. We navigated the maze that is the Logan Airport parking garage and found the car. Then, I drove us all to the hotel, where we ate dinner. After dinner, I drove to Robyn's house, talking to her on the phone, and parked the car. I walked up to the front door with butterflies in my stomach. I knocked and heard her dog, Jack, go nuts. And then the door opened, and there she was. She's always prettier than I remember her. Ron and Joyce, her parents, greeted me warmly. They always make me feel right at home. Robyn and I sat on the couch together and talked and watched TV and just enjoyed each other's company. It was a wonderful evening. I wish I could go and relive it.

Tomorrow I will write about Friday. Until then, I will leave you with this picture.

Going back to bed

I'm going back to bed. I got up to go to the bathroom and saw the post from Lifli, so I thought I would try Sarat's advice. Now that iBlog seems to be working again, I can go back to bed. Good night. :-)
