Rush Limbaugh is insane

Rush Limbaugh is either insane or just says insane things to be an instigator and to raise his ratings.

“Long after we’re all dead and gone, when historians who are not yet born begin to write about this era, they’re going to place George Bush in the upper echelon of presidents who had a great vision for America, who looked beyond our shores, who didn’t just restrict himself to domestic policy niceties.” -- Rush Limbaugh on President Bush’s legacy.

"They should be hung, and tried, and shot" -- Zack de la Rocha of Rage Against The Machine

"A good friend of ours said that if the same laws were applied to U.S. Presidents as were applied to the Nazi's after World War II, then every single one of 'em, every last rich white one of 'em from Truman on would have been hung to death, and shot. And this current administration is no exception. They should be hung, and tried, and shot. As any war criminal should be. But the challenges that we face, they go way beyond administrations. Way beyond elections. Way Beyond every four years of pulling levers. Way beyond that, because this whole rotten system has become so vicious and cruel, that in order to sustain itself, it needs to destroy entire countries, and profit from their reconstruction, in order to survive, and that's not a system that changes every four years, it's a system that we have to break down generation after generation after generation after generation after generation. Wake up." -- Zack de la Rocha of Rage Against The Machine (Emphasis Mine)

Zack made this statement near the end of a performance of their song Wake Up at the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival. While I love Rage Against The Machine and am frustrated by many of the same societal issues as they are, I do not in any way encourage the execution of political rivals any more than I did when Pat Robertson called for the assassination of Hugo Chavez.

If there are charges to be brought against them then fine, but inciting people to violence is not the answer. You don't have to be violent to rage against the machine. Just ask Ghandi or Martin Luther King Jr.

I'm sure he's rolling in his grave.

Smedley D. Butler (July 30, 1881 – June 21, 1940)

"I spent 33 years and four months in active military service and during that period I spent most of my time as a high class muscle man for Big Business, for Wall Street and the bankers. In short, I was a racketeer, a gangster for capitalism. I helped make Mexico and especially Tampico safe for American oil interests in 1914. I helped make Haiti and Cuba a decent place for the National City Bank boys to collect revenues in. I helped in the raping of half a dozen Central American republics for the benefit of Wall Street. I helped purify Nicaragua for the International Banking House of Brown Brothers in 1902-1912. I brought light to the Dominican Republic for the American sugar interests in 1916. I helped make Honduras right for the American fruit companies in 1903. In China in 1927 I helped see to it that Standard Oil went on its way unmolested."

Another variation:

"I spent 33 years and 4 months in active service as a member of our country's most agile military force--the Marine Corps. I served in all commissioned ranks from second lieutenant to Major General. And during that period I spent most of my time being a high-class muscle man for Big Business, for Wall Street and for the bankers. In short, I was a racketeer for capitalism. I suspected I was part of a racket all the time. Now I am sure of it. Like all members of the military profession I never had an original thought until I left the service."

Smedley D. Butler (1881-1940)
Retired Major General in the U.S. Marine Corps

Teresa of Avila

"I do not fear Satan half so much as I fear those who fear him."

-Teresa of Avila

This seems rather appropriate in our society where people are finding Satan around every corner. I could see us bringing back witch burning soon.

New Category - Quotes

I decided to start collecting quotes that I like here, so I created a new category for it. To begin, I give you this nugget of wisdom:

"It is said that power corrupts, but actually it's more true that power attracts the corruptible. The sane are usually attracted by other things than power."

- David Brin

If you click on the name of the person being quoted it will take you to a page telling you who they are.
