United 93, Too soon for me.

I was skimming Apple's movie trailer site and saw the title United 93. This is a movie about the incredibly brave passengers of United flight 93, which was the fourth hijacked plane on September 11th, 2001. It was the plane that was headed for the Whitehouse. The passengers banded together and prevented the terrorists from achieving their goal. Sadly, the plane crashed. We all know the story. It was only a few years ago and we were all riveted to our TV's watching it unfold.

I'm glad that someone wants to honor those passengers, but for me, it's way too soon. I can't even watch the trailer without being taken back, emotionally, to that awful day. This is one movie I won't be going to see. Not because there's anything wrong with it, but because the wounds are too fresh.

When I first saw the trailer it kinda freaked me out a little too. It may be too soon. It may always be too soon. Remember how a lot of the WW2 Vets were so upset by the first half hour of "Saving Private Ryan"?...I think in this country's long history of heroes, no list would be complete without the crew and passengers of United 93. Did you know Oliver Stone is making a 9/11 movie?...Don't know yet how he's going to blame this one on Nixon, but I'm sure the effort will be noble.

I watched the Discovery documentary on Flight 93 last year on Spetember 11th, and that was really hard to watch. I think it is going to be one of those movies that is going to have to be made forty years after the incident. Look at Pearl Harbor. And like Bill said Saving Private Ryan. Wait about fifity or sixty years.

I wasn't even aware of it until you mentioned it Mike. Anything about Sept. 11th is hard to watch. Such a terrible day for all os us. sad sad

I wasn't aware of it either, but I agree, it is too soon.

While I haven't yet seen the trailer for it, I've certainly heard a lot about it. I heard that the director got final approval from each and every family of the victims on board. I don't know if it's one I'll see though - you're right, the emotions are still pretty raw for me too.

It is still early...I think it never will be the right time!

I don't know if the timing matters or not--whether now or in the future, it will be a painful reminder...but I am more affected when I watch the footage of the tsunami than the footage of 9/11--I am not sure why.

Acts of nature, like the Tsunami, while very emotionally powerful to me, don't have nearly the impact of the horrors that people do to other people.
